Broad Street façade of Balliol College, 1899, shows a tall Gothic frontage with pointed arches, carved stonework and a rising spire. A figure pulling a rickshaw moves along the street, forming a lively late‑Victorian academic and architectural scene. From a late Victorian album of small photographs taken by an amateur photographer. Most date between 1898 and 1901 and seem to relate to the family of John White (possibly of Sth London), a builder and contractor. The quality of the original photographs was variable and many were faded and discoloured.
