March 5, 2026, Berlin, Berlin, Germany: Google opened its new Google AI Center Berlin on Thursday, March 5, 2026, presenting the hub as a platform for debate, collaboration, and innovation in artificial intelligence. The launch event at Google’s offices in Berlin’s historic Gropius Ensemble brought together policymakers, researchers, and industry representatives, including Philipp Justus, Google’s Vice President for Central Europe, German Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger, Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, Google Berlin head Annette Kroeber-Riel, and Slav Petrov, Vice President of Research at Google DeepMind. During demonstrations, Google showcased several of its latest AI technologies, including developments around Gemini, NotebookLM, and new features for YouTube Shorts, highlighting how generative AI is increasingly integrated into consumer tools and enterprise applications. The company stated that the center will host research collaborations and technology demonstrations, linking teams from Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud with academic and industry partners. Google said the Berlin hub builds on more than a decade of AI research in the German capital and is intended to strengthen Germany’s role as a growing center for artificial intelligence development.
