A beautiful whole pineapple fresh from the field has been peeled and sliced into sections by a man with a knife for tasting by visitors to Hawaii, USA. The delicious juicy fruit has been grown for more than 100 years on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Maui and Lanai in the North Pacific Ocean. Vast plantations there produced most of the world's pineapple crop in the mid-1900s but nowadays Hawaii doesn't even rank among the top ten global producers. Nevertheless, the pineapple is an iconic symbol of the Aloha State and Hawaii remains the only state in the U.S. where pineapple is grown.
